Course summary:
Learn the skills you need to successfully plan and teach motivating language lessons, including how to develop aims with measurable outcomes, classroom management strategies, and best practices in the classroom.
This course is ideal if :
● You want to improve your ability to plan lessons in advance.
You should already have:
● B2 level English or higher.
● Basic knowledge of typical learner materials, tasks and activities.
● A learner-centred approach attempting to maximise student involvement.
● Some experience of formal lesson planning and observation.
● Learners that you are currently teaching.
This course is appropriate for teachers with at least some experience.

Aims:
A good plan and good classroom practices can help you and your learners get more from your lessons. Most teachers have an intuitive understanding of how to plan and manage a class. This course sets out an approach more formally, based on well-recognised best practices, using techniques that ensure lessons have clear aims and measurable outcomes, appropriate materials, and helpful staging – with warmers, fillers and closures to learning points. It will help you explore your own practices and enhance them with proven methods – giving you more confidence, and getting the best out of your learners.
By taking this course, you’ll learn:
● How to plan one or more lessons, including how to write a formal plan.
● Best practices to pace lessons and balance activities.
● Classroom management strategies for different scenarios.
● What makes an effective learning environment.
● How to give instructions so that learners engage in the task.
The tasks within this course encourage you to try new approaches in the classroom and reflect upon the outcomes.
